‘In the Dominican Order I could see that community living and prayer, whilst at the same time being in the world actively ministering in various ways.’
‘He spoke of the Order’s motto Veritas (Truth) and the vocation to study the Truth and to pass it on through preaching. The Dominicans are the ‘Order of Preachers’, and that was it: I was hooked.’
‘More than their intelligence, their joy attracted me, and the clear love they had for one another.’
‘I had always liked studying and thinking – so I was temperamentally suited to an Order that prizes thinking (sometimes even intelligently).’
We believe that God completes the fundamental human desire for truth and goodness. Because of this, we are never afraid of a question! If you have questions about faith and meaning, just ask.
Blessed Jordan, holy successor of Saint Dominic, in the early years of the Order, your example and zeal drew many fervent souls to follow Christ in the apostolic way of life of our Holy Father.
As patron of Dominican vocations, continue to inspire men and women to place their gifts in God’s service and to consecrate their lives to him. Through your intercession, may they commit themselves with generosity of heart and willing self-sacrifice to the apostolate of Truth in the Order of Preachers.
Help them to prepare themselves for the grace of a Dominican vocation. Inspire their hearts to become learned of God, that with firm determination they may aspire to be champions of the Faith and true lights of the world.
